Public Education: Fire Prevention
The month of October is fire prevention month, but we continually teach fire prevention year round. Through fire prevention, we educate our community on how to prevent fires, what to do in case of a fire, what dangers to look for, and how to protect yourself and your family.
We provide lessons to children and adults on:
- Stop, drop, and roll
- EDITH (exit drills in the home)
- Truck tours explaining the equipment we use
- Familiarize customers with our PPE (personnel protective equipment)
- Smoke alarms, their pllacements, how they work, and their maintenance
- Station tours familiarizing the community of Show Low with our Firefighters, fire stations, common duties, and services we provide
- Answer and questions the children and adults may have
- Handouts for the children to practice the skills they learned on their visit
- Handouts for parents to help safely fire wise their home
Fire Department has taught fire prevention at:
